River City Women’s Rowing Club is a small community-based club for masters rowers.

We are located at the Somerville House Water Sports Facility on the Yeronga stretch of the Brisbane River.

With an active membership of 45, the Club provides a fun, inclusive and challenging environment for every rower in which to compete and reach their goals.

PROGRAMS

We run 2 short programs throughout the year to develop the sport of rowing in our Community.

The first is a 6 week program held in the middle of the year for masters women (age 27+) who have undertaken a Learn to Row program at another club or have rowed before and would like to Return to Rowing.

The second is a 12 week program held in the second half of the year for females aged 18 – 26 who wish to continue rowing socially post school, training for fun and fitness and competing in several Queensland Rowing events.

DONATE TO OUR FLEET

Our equipment is designed for women. Besides the hull shape and weight of our boats, three other points of contact: foot stretchers, oar handles and seats are purchased specifically to suit our membership. Therefore every piece of equipment purchased can be used by every member of our club. There is also ongoing maintenance, which every member has an opportunity to be involved in, and the costs are covered through our program.

The AUSTRALIAN SPORTS FOUNDATION (ASF) is Australia’s leading nonprofit sports fundraising organisation and charity and help RCWRC develop an inclusive and active fleet. We encourage everyone to make a tax deductible donation annually to our ASF Fleet Fund so we can continue to provide fit for purpose equipment for our members.

The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.

PHIL JACKSON

The sunrise, of course, doesn’t care if we watch it or not. It will keep on being beautiful, even if no one bothers to look at it.
